I personally dont like windshields...I like the feeling of the wind, it is part of the riding experience. However, I don't go more than 30 miles at a time, on average. I could see how for a long trip it might be helpful. Honestly, I never have a problem with bugs... maybe it is just that time of year (I even live in florida!).

I ride 60 miles round trip every day to work and home. I have this windshield http://shop.nationalcycle.com/perl/cycl ... l=ym%2d039). It is big enough that it blocks alot of wind (but not all of it) and it get the majority of the bugs. I love it and would not ride with out it. I thik you will notice a difference in how tired your arms my get if you are riding any distance at highway speeds.

How do you keep these from being riped off?

I suppose it could happen pretty easy, but it hasn't.

Good question. It never occured to me, but now that you mention it, the windshield would be pretty easy to steal. So far I haven't run across that problem yet. I keep the bike garaged at home and no one so far has had the stones to try and steal the windshield from a parking lot. Around here, if someone is stealing bike stuff, they usually just take the whole bike.

I have a windshield I bought from Dennis Kirk last year. I used it with my old bike all the time but I haven't hardly used it all with my new bike. I might be willing to sell it. If you're interested, email me at coachlinz@hotmail.com

I've had great luck with windshields from National Cycle. They have a huge selection of sizes and styles. One should fit you.
That's what I would've said. I agree. :)

I have short windscreens on my bikes cause I like a bit of wind in the face, not the full force you get without one. But....sometimes I do take em off if I know I'm not touring too far.

Windscreens are also great for deflecing the rain & cold off your body.

I rode for years without screens, then kinda got into them by accident one day & never went back....
