Re: Tuesday is BIKE DAY for me!!!
Well thanks y'all for your comments thus far!!!
I have always loved the look of this bike and you guys know I love Kawasaki's. The only thing is that I'm a sucker for an inline four so I didn't think I'd ever own this one. But in this case beggers can't be choosers - not much selection out there, other than cruisers!
The way I see it is that if you have to "settle" for a bike, you might as well settle for one that ticks almost all the boxes, which for me is: Kawasaki, sports standard, lightly faired, relatively new, 600-800cc, red... You see, the only thing I didn't get is the inline four but I'm pretty sure I can get over that!

Re: Tuesday is BIKE DAY for me!!!
And now for my first impressions...
The bike had only 920 miles on it and is practically brand new (and stock). Rode it home last night, which was about a 20 min drive, then commuted to work on it today.
On first impression it is such a comfortable ride with it's upright position and cushy seat. The parallel twin engine has a beautiful low grumble to it and (HighSide, you'll like this:) the pipes are good and loud for stock.
It's got all the power I need but I do miss the feeling of my 2006 Z750S. But the way that traffic is here in Houston I am not at all bothered because the less agressive power will mean I don't end up getting a ticket or killing myself!
Mike's just got off of it and he says that he is very impressed with the quality and "tightness". He noted that the suspension is probably a bit too stiff but I'll ride it for a while before making any adjustments. He thinks it is and excellent bike and a great choice for me here in Houston!

Nice! Given your previous bike, I would've guessed a middleweight naked, like the R's cousins, the Versys and ER6-N (dunno if they sell that one in the US). But the 650R is awesome. I've got a friend who even does trackdays with his.
Congrats!
Congrats!
