Greetings,
I have a 1998 Honda VTR1000F superhawk. I have a battery issue and need to get a replacement. Is it okay to install YTX14-BS battery instead of YTX12-BS?
YTX14-BS is 12v 12Ah battery while YTX12-BS is 12v 10Ah
Regular Charge Current for YTX14-BS spec is 1.4amp
while Regular Charge Current for YTX12-BS spec is 1.2amp.
I am not worried about the 14Ah versus 10Ah. But will there any impact on the charging system of the Motorcycle because of the difference of Regular Charge Current required by the battery.
Can someone advice on the same.
Regards....

Re: Is it okay to install YTX14-BS battery instead of YTX12-
Hello umesh, and welcome to the forum. A YTX12-BS is 6" long by 3.4" wide by 5.1" tall and weights 8lb. A YTX14-BS is 5.91" long by 3.43" wide by 5.71" tall and weights 10lbs. If you have room in your battery tray and under the seat (your battery may be mounted differently) it MAY fit. The forum is not responsible for mistakes made by users.
Good luck.

Good luck.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Thanks Moderator,
I am aware about the dimensions and not worried much about it. What I am concern of is the charging system? Will there be any impact on Charging system on bike due to high capacity battery? Also, will it get properly charged on the bike with the current charging system or do I need to change the same? I have already mentioned in the technical specs. in my post for the reference.
Battery Experts please advice.
Regards.

Yeah it will be ok. It will just take a little longer to charge than the stock battery after startup.
