2003 Yamaha Cruiser Vmax 1200cc

#1 Unread post by dodgedude »

My wife has acquired a 2003 Yamaha Cruiser Vmax 1200.

Neither of us ride nor do we intend to. Our ATV's are enough (Im still rebuilding mine from a 40foot tumble last fall)
We are going to sell this bike, but don't have the slightest clue what it is worth, if it is a decent bike, or anything really.
Its in excellent shape, never been layed over. The rubber is good, All parts are original from what I can tell.
We have the original bill of sale, plus an aftermarket exhaust to go with it.

What I do know is it was supposedly the faster production street bike of its year. Its registered as 1198CC's
I've trying get some more information, Whats its worth, and anything that could help me make a better sale. What other bikes it compares to, any known issues, or other information in general really.

Thanks for the help guys. I wish I could keep it and learn to ride but its not in the cards.

Kelly Blue Book for motorcycles lists the price at $3,725 wholesale, and $5,410 retail in the Kansas City market.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Awful bike, not worth the effort to sell it. I'll give you $20.00 to haul it off for you.

Damn, it was worth a shot. (-: That's a great bike you've got there, and someone must have really loved it to put 37,000 miles on the odo.

It was well taken care of by my wife's uncle. All his toys are in mint condition so I know this bike was respected and cared for.
I am now the Third owner. It needs an inspection and then will be ready to go.

The more I read about this bike the more I want to get my license. But I know that would end with road rash. I'm a 4 wheel guy.
I've dirt biked here and there but nothing crazy, tried a friends 450 Yamaha and ended up on my arse with the bike walking away from me.

The V max in anywhere other than the states, was never labelled a cruiser, more like a bruiser. You need big balls, be totally stupid or have superior skills to ride that bike. They are straight line monsters that were never good at canyon carving. you should have no problem selling it as they have a cult following all over the world. At the mileage and condition, you should get a good price for it, just please sell it to an experienced rider.
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

They coined the term "Power Cruiser" just for that bike...
