Also going fail, too little too late and not enough originality. However this may sell well in Asia
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

Looks like a Hyosung Comet/Yamaha FZ8 hybrid. If it was from Hyosung I'd actually give it a decent rating as they are definitely improving as a company. However, this hits a fail until proven awesome in my book. Benelli even before becoming chinese was starting to suck the big 4 1 1

I'm going to go with: FAIL

It's incredibly sad to see such a high end company taken over by a Chinese company only to see cheap, knockoff products being produced at (what I assume to be) cut-rate prices. Benelli had a well deserved reputation for high end motorcycles that used high quality components, but of course that didn't come cheap ($30k bikes anyone?). Now the Italian firm is purchased by the Chinese company and even the websites are now written in very poor English. I had a really good laugh reading the motorcycle descriptions even! They even dropped out of the North American market. These are the reasons Benelli will be dropped from the 2014 Total Motorcycle Model Guide after having them on for several years.

But in truth, it's sad, it's like the only originality over in Chinese firms is to steal ideas, products, trademarks, copyrights, data and even trade/industy secrets.

I'm sure the Chinese can do better than that!

I'd look at it a little differently:

I would point out that Benelli was already offering poor quality bikes, with poor quality components when they were taken over by the Chinese. The problem was they were trying to sell poor quality bikes for high end prices by trading on a name with a somewhat reputable past. The Chinese did the most American of moves when they bought a company that was in tatters for a song and are attempting to do the exact same thing but with a better business model. While people will not-for-long pay for products with poor quality and high-end prices they will pay for products with acceptable quality for reasonable prices. If they happen to strike the right balance they may have a winner - but nobody on here has ridden one and therefore we really don't know.

As for stealing ideas, the Chinese are famous for it. However in this case, they bought the company, not created a knock-off and they have engineered their own products (some parts may be copied, but we do not know his either).

I'm not trying to say that I love this Benelli (I voted fail) but thought I would point out that the company and it's reputation were well sunk before the Chinese came along....

That would indeed be a shame as I've seen (and sat) on the Benelli bikes at the London and Birmingham motorcycle shows and they felt like quality bikes. But I've never ridden one and they are rare as hen's teeth so I've not known anyone to have owned one either. There was a time I would have considered owning one, but the price was always out of my reach, but the TnT models...wow.

True as you say as well they bought the company, re-engineered the business plan and are most likely making the same parts for the older Benelli models. I should have specified and said the new models (the 150cc, 250cc and 600cc models) seem like they are going in the cheap direction.

And you are right, there is a market for quality at a low price. Reminds me of the successful Wal-Mart business model in a way.

Notes: Wow, quite the different turn out vs the MV Agusta we had up last week! While the new MV Agusta didn't do great (61.5%) the Benelli absolutely didn't. Seems many can't get over the fact Benelli has entered uncharted Chinese made waters and now with 150cc and 250cc Benelli's "Made in China" what direction will the company take? Cheap and Cheerful or Cheap and God-aweful? No matter the end result, the Chinese Benelli appears to have an uphill battle to fight on their hands.

How interesting, i was looking a benelli today, in melbourne, the 600 is 10000 aud, malaysia is the same,
I want to upgrade my bike from a gs500 to a learner approved 650, benelli being one of them if it has throttle restriction imposed, the brochure i got i was using to compare to a cfmoto 650nk (chines bike, australian market).
I thought to myself, nah, chinese, like there great wall utilitys, ......"poo poo", so opted for an italian.

Lies!!! Its chinese apparently but the brochure i got clearly says qoute" benelli motorcycles are completely designed and built in italy, in the factory located in pesaro, italy, by highly specialised italian engineers and technicians."unquote.

Isnt that outrageous!!!
Blatant bullshiezer.

Plus the cf moto gives 62nm at 7000rpm and the benelli gives 52nm at 10500rpm. Whats up with that?
