I've been on those roads, straight and flat for 10 miles, gravel, dust and potholes for the next 20....then there are the suicidal gophers.......High_Side wrote:Should move to Calgary - in 15 minutes from my house I am on nice roads with great sceneryceemes wrote:Lucky you, I had to take the transit limo's to work today and will for the next week at least......blues2cruise wrote:I rode today, too. Wrider....
As for good road, when I started riding, there were a lot of good fun local roads with little traffic to play on, now not so much. With the urban sprawl and gentrification (read as pussification) of our streets, what with stop light every couple of block, straightening out of fun bends, and extra traffic, I almost have to burn through half a tank of fuel before I can find wide open fun roads these days.![]()

I rode to work on Friday and then to my sister's after work. It was a nice day. However.....when I left my sister's place on Saturday morning it was raining again. I was dressed for the rain so it didn't matter. I actually quite enjoyed the ride since it wasn't very cold.

We have areas with prairie dogs that are like that. I've killed two, but never hit any of them. The little suckers just die of a heart attack as you drive over them!

The biggest problem with gopher/prairie dog tag is cleaning their gut out for between your radiator grill and various other tough to clean/wash places.jstark47 wrote:Stop complaining. The now defunct Race City Speedway in Calgary was famous for the kamikazzi gophers who would sometimes show up for track days and race events. I never managed to hit one myself but I got to a point where I stopped tying to guess where they were going to run next and powered through. This does not give you the warm and fuzzies when braking at the end of a nearly mile long straightway!
