There's supposed to be a nut on the screw. The nut should be up against the piece the screw is in, keeping the screw in place.

The screw head acts as the stop. The nut keeps the screw from moving in and out.

thanks have heard of the engine leaking? what can I check it leaks oil there is usually a nice little puddle when it sits took the engine out it looks like the oil pan. I bought it used have no idea of maintenance record. The person I bought it from thought it was the crankcase seal.

You'll just have to trace the oil drop to find out where it's coming from.

Easiest way: Take it for a ride. When you get home, use foot powder/baking soda/flour/some sort of white powder and cover the area you suspect of leaking. Let it sit and you'll find it via the trails.
