1986 Kawasaki Vulcan750 problem

#1 Unread post by par4sure »

When riding for awhile, if I stop somewhere and shut off the bike, it doesn't want to start. after trying to start the bike for a few minutes the battery(brand new) dies completely.
If I jump start the bike, it will start right up, but after running a few minutes the bike dies again and the battery is drained. Any ideas? Thank you!

It sounds like your regulator/rectifier is fried, which means you have nothing charging the battery when the motor is running. best take it to a bike shop for a new one, but be aware it'll be expensive.

No problem. In the mean time, you can still ride the bike short distances if you get a motorcycle battery charger to keep the battery topped up when you're not riding it. But don't do that for too long or you'll toast the battery.
