Re: This Week: 2010 Buell Lightning CityX XB12SX - Vote Toda
Another blast from the past this week of 2010... the 2010 Buell Lightning CityX XB12SX!
The Buell Lightning CityX XB12SX was a new model for 2010 (and last year of Buell) and it never made it over to North America before the company was dissolved. Would it have sold enough in USA/Canada? Could the CityX line have started something good for Buell? OR was it too little too late?
...has it really been 5 model years now Buell hasn't been around? Amazing.

Although I have not had a ride on this particular size of Buell...I had to vote fail for the Buell experience I did have. It was a 500cc and awful.

Re: This Week: 2010 Buell Lightning CityX XB12SX - Vote Toda
I have never owned a Buell. My friend had a 500 Blast and it was a nightmare to maintain. But this model is just fugly. I am sure it would have a lot of power for an urban ride but I think you would be hard pressed to use that much power in my urban environment in Toronto. I just find it not very aesthetic. Since it is marketed as an urban machine I wonder how comfortable it is for the long haul.
Uncool for me.

Re: This Week: 2010 Buell Lightning CityX XB12SX - Vote Toda
It is great on the long haul, Buell is look that well love it hate it whichever but the machines perform. The low torque of the sportster motor makes it one of the best urban bikes I ever owned 3rd gear 8-80 literally no shifting required roll on roll off great braking a little hot in the firebolt model but the sx and ss models are pretty good. Nothing I ever owned handles like a Buell either. The Blast well IDK it's literally a half a sportster motor and if it doesn't grenade they are not bad little puddle jumpers or really good for small framed women. Maintain IDK bout that there aint nuthin to em easy as pie IMHO sportster motor is damn near bullet proof.
there aint nothin like it

Voted awesome. My fave Buells are the tubers but all Sportster-engined Buells are awesome IMO.

Aww, c'mon, look at how quirky and innovative this thing was, even half a decade ago. Fuel in the frame, oil in the swingarm, rim-mounted brake disk, muffler underneath the bike, translucent body panels. Awesome! Can't wait for EBR to start making their own standard/streetfighter/nakeds.

I voted: Cool, yes it's true the power in the city isn't needed, but the torque is always welcomed to get yourself out of traffic quick. 1200cc is pretty much weight overkill though, but at least it's a low weight heavy-weight.
I've really on the edge of the seat waiting for EBR to re-introduce a naked street bike again. Would be interesting to see if he uses the V-Twin or an inline-4... and I'd like to see it complete with the new FZ-09 or FZ-07 area.
Buell's were sure innovative back in the day, I'm still VERY disappointed that Harley-Davidson never used any of the Buell innovations in their bikes, what a waste of R&D! I do like H-D's, but when you compare them (innovation wise) to a Buell, it's hard to understand H-D's un-innovative approach here.
That said, my neighbour has a Buell Ulysses and ran out of gas on the highway. To a normal bike that isn't that bad of a deal, but on a Buell, it's a new fuel pump if you do and it's hard to get to! Not such a good design there. As they all have the same design I couldn't vote for Awesome based on that even though I badly wanted to.
