I was lucky enough that I coasted into the only gas station in town, after spending the 40 miles on my reserve laying as flat against my tank as I could manage.ibanrfknm wrote:And how did you get out of that one?zombiekatzu wrote:I loved the trip I did north this summer. up state hwy 75 through Ketchum, over Galena summit, and into the Sawtooth national forest.
South on 93 to Las Vegas was also a blast (excluding running out of gas between Wells and Ely (McGill)

I was in the mountains and bike went on reserve.......I slowed down A LOT....and then fortunately.....had a long downhill run before the exit of the next town....I'm sure I got there on fumes.
Worst case scenario....I'd have to hitchhike....

Thanks. I learned something that day.ibanrfknm wrote:Well I'm glad you made it. I've been close but not that close.
The bike was air cooled....I did not know that higher elevation and really cold temperatures made the bike use more gas...otherwise I could have stopped before getting on the Coquihalla.
Live and learn.

That's one reason why it's good to keep some sort of fitness....in case you have to walk a distance to get fuel or help.

I've been there, there's no place to go.
