0-60 in 2.9 seconds. You nail the throttle at 5 grand, the wheel comes up, and what follows is insane speed in first gear up to 60 mph.
You laugh hysterically. Throw the bike between cars, run the canyons. Brake late in a turn. It's all good. On the freeway you downshift two gears and burn rubber as you rocket ahead of semis/cell phone distracted SUV drivers/ morons in weaving RVs.
It's ALL good.

PhilD9er...Curious, is this what you ride?
Sounds like some tuning is in order Mysta. The Texas part is a tough one. How far is it to some twisty roads for you? If you could tough it out for a weekend and get yourself to some real curves, that might hold you over for a while. Before that...tune 'er up. Good luck with that...whatever happens, keep that sweet ride!
The later hawk 400 or nighthawk 450 engines might fit. (Both twins) But they are blocky and not as attractive as the 350/360
I resent that! I think the 400 in one of the nicest looking twins out there.
Good onya for being Brave enough to say that in Public!
Did you also like the way the Honda CX 500 looked?
Hey, is that a knock on my ride?
Not a fan of the CX500, but not because of the looks.
I don't know why the old Honda twins get no respect. They are great little bikes. My 400 rips above 6,000 rpm and will do circles around my brothers 80 c.i. Harley.
Sure, they aren't the coolest looking bike in stock form, but that can be changed pretty easily.
some of the older UJMs are starting to turn into collectors items. Though I did spy a 74 CB360 in a local bike shop for $850, was in pretty good shape too (no leaking fluids, original paint but no major scratches, new hoses and seals, definately was taken care of)
Mysta, your bike rocks, and I'm putting mine closer to cafe everyday! Well, this thread motivated me to fool around with my handlebars today. It's been storming all afternoon, so I took them off flipped them over, and eventually settled on a non-flipped, but quite low position. They are superbike bars, and I had to make a spacer to get my master cylinder to clear the bend, and put my right mirror in a useable position. The new bar position is very good looking, and appears to be comfortable, too. Haven't done the test ride, but I'm expecting good things from all the sitting I did on it today. I do these things to keep it interesting. UJM's rule.

that's what it's all about, I wish I could be home now messing with it. Any pics we can look at. I'm curious how you lowered them without flipping them, my risers aren't adjustable. If I can get home tonight before some ungodly hour I'll upload some pics that explain better how I had to modify my bars to fit.

mysta2.... my '73 CL350 will easily hit 80mph, I've never pushed it beyond that, but it will certainly comply.
Since your bike is near classic status, I wouldn't advise performing any radical surgery. Rather, spend the bucks to get it checked by a competent mechanic and invest in what is required to bring it up to spec.
Then look for an older larger displacement bike. For covering long distances in smooth comfort I would recommend an early 80's CB900C. These are rock solid bikes with dual range gear boxes (great for long range cruising) that can be had for prices typically below $2,500CDN. An undervalued bike at this point.
