I've always liked the FJR, and voted it cool. It's getting a bit old though; going on 12 years, with basically evolutionary changes.

For some time the FJR has been considered a great value in the LD community, but this platform has also shown that it is a competitive choice by dominating the standings in the 2013 Iron Butt Rally with 5 top 10 finishers.

1. Derek Dickson 2005 FJR1300
2. Josh Montain 2006 FJR1300A
3. Wendy Crockett 2005 FJR1300
5. Matt Watkins 2005 FJR1300
6. Tim Pawlowski 2006 FJR1300A

It is interesting to note that none of these motorcycles are Gen 3 FJRs, but then a lot of LD riders will not switch rides unless they are having reliability issues or if they perceive a significant competitive advantage in doing so. Also, Matt Watkins had significant rear suspension problems and limped home to dramatically avoid a mechanic DNF. Any single year does not provide a large enough sample to make meaningful conclusions on the reliability of the various models, but this was a stealer year for FJR fans.

Time will tell is the 2014 FJR1300ES will be a battle worthy competitor, but there is little doubt that it will get a chance to compete.

Well that pretty well sums up my vote for the bike then as a tourer: Awesome.

If the FJR1300 is an Iron Butt Rally bike of choice for long distances in a short amount of time, I can only imagine it would make a great slower speed tourer as well. It is interesting that Yamaha still uses the inline-4, I would think a smoother (less high-frequency) motor might be more appreciated vs a high revving one, but obviously it works and works well.

When I picked this model for the Cool Wall I thought it might have finished with more a "meh" vote but the new FJR easily surpassed my expectations based on the votes so far.

Now can we convince Yamaha to bring over the naked XJR1300 from Europe? PLEASE :D

This is a gorgeous and functional large touring bike. I am sure the engine is a bit boring (big engines tend to have much less interest than smaller ones) but would be smooth and comfortable. I voted awesome!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to ride the FJR1300ES and I wasn't sure if I would have liked it before hand, but I have to say, the bike really impressed me! It doesn't feel as heavy as I would have imagined it to be and it quite well balanced at low and 1st gear speeds. The engine is very smooth (but not very loud and needs an aftermarket exhaust to sing) and the amount of electrical do-dads on it are pretty amazing. I'd hate to see any of those electrical thingys go on the blink but while it all works, it's awesome.

Might be a bike in my future, never know. :)

The Urban Dictionary says:
1) The descriptive sound of someone being in danger of being hit by a motorcycle.
This guy's grandma was in vroomvroom the other day: now she's in the hospital.
2) Trying to get with someone of the opposite sex, for no other purposes then hook up with them.
guy 1 ( talking to girl ) : " Hey cutie ;) "

guy's friend: VROOOOM VROOOOM!

girl: you be vroom vrooming? see ya...
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.
