Hyosung GT250
Hyosung GT250
Any opinions on the Hyosung GT250???
Seems like a decent Starter bike in the Naked standard class?
I never heard of this manufacturere before, I read the release stuff on this site but was wondering if anyone has details? Reliability, handling?
From the official docs it sounds like a very modern bike???

This brand is making inroads in SA, they are hightly rated by those that own them. Reliable, inexpensive parts, servicing and so on. Most here are the 650 version and we are seeing more and more on the roads.
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

I have the GV250, which uses the same engine. I really love my bike, and they make an excellent starter. The power is quite good for a 250cc bike, I have no complaints. The 65-70 mpg is wonderful too.

I must say the review above is a good one (it's for the cruiser but the same engine). The reports from owners is good also.
I like the looks of the GT as well. I might have to be willing to up my $$$ spending money to go for a demo 2004 model. There is one in Richmond in Yellow. Sounds like a great starter for me.
Thanks for the responses gang!

Two things to be careful of are
1. resale value (if you go new).. they are a relatively unappreciated brand, and are likely to be hard to sell when you wish to upgrade.
2. availability of a local dealership. if anything goes wrong, that you don't have the knowledge / skill to fix, your going to need one nearby

That looks sweet. Hmmm wonder if I can get one over here? Even better it also comes in 125 and 650cc versions...
I dont know about this one in particular, but Hyosung and a number of other Korean manufacturers, have been offering reworked Japanese bikes for more than a few years now. If you know which bike the Korean one has been patterned on you can get Japanese parts to fit with a little creativity.
Bitzer, the 98 CG came with a Hyosung engine installed.
