2005 XL Custom C electrical?

Hello everyone! I have a 2005 XL Sportster C. I put my maxi fuse back in after the winter and heard a pop, followed by a tiny puff of stinky electrical smoke. Balls. So I start the bike, seems to be running fine, all fuses are good, I tested the only relay in the fuse box and it definitely clicks. But when I unchoke her, she dies. When I come up to a stop sign, dead. But starts right back up. Backfiring too. This is all after running fine until the end of last season, and even running a couple times through the winter. Gas was stabilized. ANY help is surely appreciated! Thanks so much in advance!
