Rush fans on this forum

#1 Unread post by rubthebuddha »

I've noticed a lot of quotes of Rush lyrics and from that I deduced that yes! there are some Rush fans on this forum! I've been a Rush fan since '84 when I picked up "Signals". I must've been 14 then and I was totally blown away by this band that sounded like nothing else I'd ever heard. I saw them at the Gorge for the Vapor Trails tour a couple years ago - awesome venue awesome concert. Any of you Rush fans out there? Let's talk about Rush!

Been a fan since 1979. First album I heard was my dad's copy of 'A Farewell to Kings'

Saw their Presto tour in 1990 and most recently their Vapor Trails tour.

There is a reason that they are Canada's #1 selling band as well as recipients of the Order of Canada

Damn straight.

as a bit of trivia, were you all aware that Alex Lifeson composed and performed the 'March of the High Guard' theme from the TV show Andromeda?

I was given free floor tickets to the Vapour Trails show in Vancouver. I took the only other person I know that loves the band as much as I do... my little sister. (She may have been born in '60, but she is little.. lol)

I'm a Rush Limbaugh fan, does that count?

As for music, my favorite band is Vast, though I doubt anyone here's ever heard of him.

I wouldn't say I'm a "fan" of Rush, but I do like their music and listened to it a lot when I was a teenager. When I was 13 I babysat for these two kids, one of which really didn't need a babysitter (he was 11), but he was still too young to be in charge of his younger brother. So after I would get his little brother to bed, this kid and I would hang out in the living room, and he would play every single Rush song on his guitar. He was an awesome musician for his age, and a great singer too. I guess we kind of had crushes on each other, but since I was two years older than he, there was just NO WAY. But those are some great Rush memories for me.

Oh, also, "Fly by Night" was one of my personal anthems as an angst-filled 14-year-old. I hated my family so much at the time, and that song really hit home for me - as I'm sure it did for a lot of people.

Cheers,
Loonette
