Cagiva 350 t4e won't start just single click

Hi all. Hopefully someone can help. I have a 1990s green laner 350 cagiva t4e. Was laid up for a short while now when I try and start I get a single click from the solenoid. I have done a lot of Google searching so here is what I know it isn't! -

I have a brand new fully charged battery.
All contacts have been cleaned and are tight.
I can jump the starter motor with a lead from the battery and the engine turns over strong.
Fuses seem fine.
I bought a new solenoid and that too just a single click.
All lights etc work fine.
I traced all high voltage cables and no visible signs of a problem.

Any help appreciated as I'm losing the will!!!
