Engine cut out won't start again

Was riding my sym symba have 3 bikes and at 40mph the engine cut out just went pulled over when try to start it again the starter motor makes a,funny noise and engine won't start I know it's not the startor motor it's an engine problem it's a semi auto and only had it 3 years what could of broke
