Seeking Advice for New Rider Choosing Between Sportbike and Cruiser

#1 Unread post by Womenthe »

I’m new to the world of motorcycles and just recently got my motorcycle license. I’ve been doing a lot of research and reading, but I’m still a bit torn on what type of bike would be best for me. I’m really excited to join the community and hear from all of you!

Here’s my situation:

I’m 25 years old, I’ve always been into motorcycles, and I’ve been dreaming of owning one for a while. Now that I’ve got my license, I’m looking to buy my first bike. I’ve been going back and forth between a sportbike and a cruiser, but I can’t decide which direction to go.

Sportbike Pros: I love the idea of speed, handling, and the more aggressive stance that comes with sportbikes. They look amazing, and I’ve always been fascinated by their performance on the road. However, I’m a little concerned about the comfort for longer rides, as I plan to take weekend trips with my friends sometimes.

Cruiser Pros: On the other hand, cruisers seem to be more comfortable, especially for longer rides. I’ve read that they offer a more relaxed riding position, which seems appealing to me. But, I’m not sure if I would get bored with a cruiser since I’m more interested in performance and speed.

I’m looking for a bike that I can use for commuting around the city and also take on longer trips. I’m about 5’9” and weigh around 160 pounds, so I don’t know if that makes a difference in terms of bike size or handling.

I’m also considering the budget. I’m trying to keep the price reasonable and would love any advice on good starter bikes that are versatile enough for both commuting and some longer rides.

Any suggestions or insights you have would be greatly appreciated! I’m excited to hear your thoughts on which type of bike would be a better fit for me.
