I haven't been here for over three years. A lot has happened.
My house was in a flood and after I got it fixed, I sold it. Too many bad memories. One being that my motorcycle was affected by the flood. I had to say good bye.
The I spent a year and a half looking after my mother and her property. She is now in assisted living and her place is sold.
Due to the circumstances in my life, I am now living in a 5th wheel trailer in an RV park. It's not ideal, but it's what I can afford.
In the time I was at my mother's place, I met a group of people who ride. I was inspired to get 2 wheels again.
I bought a BMW maxi scooter 650. I didn't love it. I kept mistaking the left front brake for a clutch. It sure did have a super engine though. Anyway, I sold it.
I then got an older model 650 V-Star with only 12,000 km on it. (7400 miles). I made a mistake in buying that. The exhaust was so loud, I did not enjoy it. I sold it.
Yes, I took a loss on everything.
One day, I walked into a local Ford dealership to take my truck in for service. In the showroom was a 2017 Honda Africa Twin. I instantly loved it. I went back a week later to test ride. Then a week later I bought it.
It sure was challenging to get used to riding in that position. Especially with pegs and not floorboards. It has taken a while to gain confidence on it, but I'm getting there. I rode up a few forest service roads to try riding off road. I ride easy ones. I'm too old to be riding anything extreme, especially alone.
