GIRLFRIEND VS BIKE

How many other riders out there has a problem with their girlfriend being jealous of their bike??

Don't want to get rid of either one ...but at least the bike doesn't "dog" at me.

In my life, the bike would come first; the girlfriend last.

(At least my wife believes it should be that way.)

It's a sad situation, but this could be a sign of things to come with the girl. Today it's the bike, tomorrow, who knows? It's easy for us to say dump her if she can't see the light and let you enjoy riding, but you are on the spot, here, and it can be very emotional. Even at my advanced age, though, I would probably send her on her way, because she is probably a manipulator/controller in other things, too. I'd rather be free to ride than put up with that, even if I had to sit home alone watching TV at night.

Get a girlfriend that's into bikes, then you wouldnt have this problem.

I seem to have the reverse problem, in finding a man that is not jealous of me and my motorcycle. Or that understands my need to ride everywhere.

Well... first of all, she's just a girlfriend. So, that makes it a no brainer (IMNSHO)... the bike stays. Second of all... there are always more girlfriends to be had. If this one is already giving you grief at this stage of the relationship... then just imagine what it would be like to be permanently attached to her. Personally, I don't change my life for anyone but me (well, ok... I've changed my life in a lot of ways for my family, but that's for another thread titled "personal responsibility"). Riding is what I do... I don't give a rodent's rump if the person I'm dating doesn't like it. They don't have to ride with me. I'm a grown up... I can ride all by myself.

When my wife and I were dating, I only had a motorcycle for transportation and I made it perfectly clear that I would never give up riding. In the 10 years we've been together, she's never once asked me not to ride or gotten jealous of my riding. She just tells me to make sure my life insurance is up to date...

Which came first? If it's the bike, why didn't she notice it? If it was her, did She know about this possible side of your life? Awe, never mind...No amount of psychoanalysis will fix incompatability. Only you can figure this out. I agree, be glad you know now, not after getting married.
