quick question.

#1 Unread post by wicked87 »

Hello, i'm new to the forum. I was wondering what kind of gas mileage a yzf r1 gets. With the increasing gas prices, i figure its time to get a nice bike because its too dang expensive for pretty much anything else. But anyways, thanks for your help in advance.

Pretty much all bikes get great fuel economy, assuming you don't ride flat out all the time.

Beats driving a Car! (But then we all know that eh) :)

Anywhere from 30MPG to 40 would be a good ballpark figure to go with unless you ride "Alls to the wall" But remember this is an un-educated opinion and should not be used to calculate how much money you will save verses a car. :frusty:

Unless you are going to replace your car/truck with the bike, you're not going to save any money. You have to factor in the cost of the bike, the insurance, the gear, and a training course if you are a new rider.

And if your main concern is saving $ on gas, an R1 is probably not the practical choice. Nor is it a beginers bike. Further more, if it's your only transportation you wont want to ride too far on a race bike.

However, if you are just looking for a fun alternative to a car/truck a bike is definately a good idea.
