I am leaning toward the V Star based on how it feels when I sit on it. I only have had an opportunity to sit so far. I plan on driving every one of them before I make my final decision.
The best defense against reluctant family members is to get professional training and be properly geared up every time you get on the bike. And read Proficient Motorcycling. Trumpet your safety consciousness. Motorcycling will always be more dangerous than riding in a car but you can mitigate that with a little effort and good P.R.! It worked for me and now my wife rides too!
Hi and welcome to the group. My wife resisted also. But now she wants to ride all the time. Course I'm partial to the C50 but all those bikes are nice.
I have to second the C50. The Shadow VLX 600 has a 4-speed tranny which can become a real pain in the butt. The Shadow Aero is a bit on the anemic side, as is the V-Star 650, and the latter received a poor review from Cycle World during one of their budget bike shootouts.
