Greetings from Georgia!
It is great finding this forum. I am getting a 2003 Yamaha V-Star 1100 Classic in two days and am pumped. Of course, I am a bad statistic waiting to happen. I'm in my early 50's and haven't ridden but a few times in 30 years.
I am, however, taking the MSF course in two weeks and plan on taking it slow.
Any tips or encouragement will be appreciated.

My brother-in-law has an '03 V-Star 1100 Classic. He's thrilled with it and from the few times I've ridden it I'd have to agree. It's a very classy ride with decent power, especially after the addition of pipes and an intake. The aftermarket support for it is amazing, as is the number of parts available on eBay.
Just a few suggestions in case the ergos don't quite do it for you:
- My bro's bike has aftermarket 4" risers, and I cannot even imagine what the stock two-inchers looked or felt like. His 4" risers feel about perfect.
- The seat slants towards the tank and becomes a literal pain in the arse in a very short time. Fortunately Mustang makes a kick-butt studded saddle for it that is very comfy.
Other than those two nit-picks, and the hard-to-get-at oil filter (gotta remove the exhaust) it's a fine bike with good power and looks to boot!
Congrats and welcome!
