All the open land is disappearing...

I know most of you ride streetbikes but what about the people who ride offroad. Do any of you guys ride offroad?? Dont get me wrong. I love all 2 wheeled vehicles, I was just wondering. All the riding trails are slowly disappearing. And I was surprised to find out that its not happening in so cal. but its happpening everywhere. What are us riders going to do about these people who are taking our land. The true americans are not the rich bastards who develop the land and build track houses everywhere. They are the people whos word you can depend on. The people where a handshake and a smile is more than just a way to say hello...

This is just something to think about.

I ride offroad. There are still trails near my house i'm afraid of riding cause i don't want to get lost. I just figured out a new trail today. Besides, if you got an enduro, you don't need a blazed path

It's happening here in the UK too. Only here it is the government wanting to ban motorised vehicles (i.e. motorcycles) from areas where they have traditionally had access. Partly, it is a result of pressure from walkers' and ramblers' associations who want the countryside to remain quiet and undisturbed. I can understand that because I am a walker myself, but even here in our overcrowded island, there is room for everyone.

There's a vast amount of open land in the US, much of it accessable to dirt bikes. What's disappearing is open land adjacent to cities and towns that are expanding. You just have to ride farther to get to it now.

Expanding communites are a fact of life. If you've got more people, you're going to need more houses. If you want riding terrain near your home, your just going to have to keep moving farther out of town for the forseeable future.

For the part about people wanting to ban riding. One of the major problems I have on the trails is for that small group of no funs that go out and tear up the trails and tear down the public roads on them damn two strokes. I like 2 strokers dont get me wrong. But some of them are way too noisy. It is true that 2 strokers have a irritating noise anyway but when people take the silencers off. What problems like this do you guys see out on the trails in your vicinity??

Technically you could report em if its public land. If they have no silencers then they have no spark arrestors either which is ILLEGAL on public lands.

Certainly dont want some schmuck on his unsilenced bike to start a wildfire should his bike decide to burp some flame out the pipe

I have the same problem when I want to go shooting.

There is always someone else out there. Kinda ruins the peacefulness of just being alone and thinking about stuff.

Dirtbikers are actually the people who tick me off the most with this. A couple times they've rumbled in with their jacked up 4x4's, unloaded their bikes, and tried to ride right down in where I have targets set up. Don't even ask if it's okay with me. The worst one was when I was sighting in my scope and suddenly a kid maybe 300yds away on a dirt bike goes past, right in the crosshairs right in front of the target. That really made me angry. He could've been killed. Anyway rant over...

flynrider is right, you have to drive quite a ways out of town to find a place without people. Hopefully by the time there is no wilderness left I'll already be dead.

We are still really lucky in SA, we have loads of space and does nt take us long to get out into the bush. The big thing here is quads, they have made up over 50% of the bike sales over the past two years and we are flooded with them.
