WTF is it with people, rain, and no headlights?
Is it just around here, or are people stupid enough elsehwere to not turn on their headlights in the rain? Specially when it's raining in the late afternoon, near dusk. Seriously, it could be pouring rain, can only see 40 ft in front of you, and people don't turn their lights on. Makes me wish i was a cop, i'd be pulling people over left and right for that. </rant>

I agreed most of them only think of themselfs and want to get home as fast as they can. They don't consider about safety for themselves or others. I believe it is a law now in CA that the driver suppose to turn the headlight on when the windshield wiper is used, still I've see a lot of cars do not care about the headlight even on FWY.

We have had that law in Virginia for awhile. Of course with fashion being hte thing here and so many people owning the newer cars with running lights it's not too much of a problem
seeing them...
Virginia drivers are crazy.
When you first get here you realize that no one knows how to drive. However, you start to get used to it. Then when it rains/snows they get worse. I've seen people drive into 4 foot deep standing puddles and have their cars stop, then see another guy try to get by in the same spot. Or even better, I've seen a guy take off in icy conditions to get by pedestrians before a light turns red...er.
If it was raining or snowing and I was on my bike, I wouldn't go near a major road.

i have lived in oregon, washington, northern california, british columbia, montana, and now im in in school in utah. as far as cagers go, utah has the worst drivers ever. never any turn signals, no lights, no blind spot checks. they are the worst. utah is followed closly by montana. it must be the mountain time zone that brings out the worst in drivers.

Ah nightingale, then you have not yet lived in Edmonton where the majority of the driving population appears to regularly want to win the "worst driver" award. But wait! WE are in the mountain time zone...nightingale wrote:i have lived in oregon, washington, northern california, british columbia, montana, and now im in in school in utah. as far as cagers go, utah has the worst drivers ever. never any turn signals, no lights, no blind spot checks. they are the worst. utah is followed closly by montana. it must be the mountain time zone that brings out the worst in drivers.
Oh ya, the headlights thing. Good thing the newer cars have those daytime running lights now or else there'd be way more ghosts in the dusk or mist or rain than there is now (grumble, grumble..)
Ya right,

It is no different here in Montgomery. There is one problem you didn't include...we have dummies (cagers) here that drive around with their brights on all the time and will not dim them even when you flash your brights several times. I don't like to give the bright lights back to them if they are in a group of cars because it isn't fair to blind those who are driving with their lights dimmed. However, if they are not in a group of vehicles I will give them the brights right back. It also seems like most of them have the super bright aftermarket bulbs installed.
The bikers I encounter 99% of the time will dim their light when flashed, but most aren't bright enough to bother me.
