That would have to be one hell of a diode. Diodes that flow an amp are getting into the large size, nevermind the currents required by the starter. Plus that would be rather expensive on the manufacturer. Much cheaper to install a sticker with a warning about installing the battery backwards. :)

i can just imagine a huge coke-can-sized diode on the side of all bikes :roll2:
currently fixing my bike: 1978 Honda Hawk CB400T, orange

if my bike still doesnt work well after, might get: 1985 Honda Sabre VF700S
