I just went into the DMV yesterday and got my class M. Took $15 and 5 mins. The thing that suprised me the most was that the lady was NICE and POLITE. That combined with the fact that i lost my permit was amazing to say the least. Good thing the endorsment from the MSF school had all that info on it. Getting the class m permit was another story... The RMV close to home isn't a full serve, so i had to go to the bigger one about 30 mins away just to wait 40 mins in line, to take a 2 minute test and get rude comments from the "dog" at the counter.

I don't know where you are from, but if it happened to me, I would call to set up an appointment to discuss the situation with the tester's supervisor. If that was rejected, go to the highest person on the pecking order to state your case, which might eventually include an attorney and a newspaper reporter. I would do everything legally and affordably possible to highlight all shortcomings of the testing office involved. It isn't slander if you're telling the truth.

Don't you have some sort of Ombudsman or formal compalints procedure over there that you can make use of? Maybe there is a consumer protection organisation that you could approach for help - especially as you witnessed it. Were there any other independent witnesses who might back you up. If this guy has done it to your gf he may have done it to other people as well.

I wouldn't just go with the supervisor's word on what you can do about this. He will protect his own patch. Make a stink! He who shouts loudest...!

Seems every time I go the DMV, I get "served" by Patty (or is it Selma?) on PMS!

I went to the DMV near my home a couple weeks ago because I was selling a bike that I'd gotten from my mom back in Detroit (I'm in northern Virginia 500 miles away) and I needed to get the title changed over to me (I'd had the bike for a couple months and hadn't licensed it or anything). The people that were buying it were coming from Tennessee the next day and I just needed the paper so I could make the transfer.

So I go in and fill out the forms and noticed I still needed to fill in the mileage on the title from mom. The actual mileage was 6680 and I started to fill in 6780, had a brain fart and messed up the hundreds digit, and just corrected up to 6880.

Get up to the window and the lady looks at the title and says, "This title's been altered, you'll have to get another title (from mom) or indicate "Not actual mileage" on your title (which would destroy resale permanently)".

Of course I had a fit. IT"S MY MOM!!!! SHE'S 70 YEARS OLD AND WOULDN'T THINK OF CHEATING ME!!!! SHE'S 500 MILES AWAY!!!! IT'S ONLY A DIFFERENCE OF 100 MILES!!! WHO COULD POSSIBLY GIVE A DAMN!!!

So I storm out of the office with her saying, "Well, come back when you make up your mind. I'll be taking lunch from 11-12 but I can help you after that!"

So I come home and carefully take a pen and fill in all the numbers nice and bold so you can no longer see the offending 7 under the 8. Of course, it sticks out like a sore thumb, but what the heck.

So I drive down to another little town and go into the DMV there, hoping on hope that sanity might prevail.

I walk in, tell the lady behind the counter that I want to transfer the title. She takes one look at it and asks, "What happened to the mileage?" I said, "My 70 year old mother happened to it". "OK." And she called the supervisor over to initial it and I was out in 2 minutes.

You gotta love it!

Went to the DMV yesterday with my gf so she could get her motorcycle license. We have been practicing for weeks and weeks and even if I do say so myself, she is an excellant rider.

So the first thing the DMV tester does when he is about to begin the test is tell her that she is most likely going to fail and probably will drop the bike, but he will do the test for her because he is required!

Riding for weeks does not make one an excellent rider, did the instructor possibly see her riding in, possibly not looking comfortable on the bike? Perhaps she did not seem familiar with it's operation.

I think it is good that not everyone gets a mcycle license, some people just don't have the coordination. I'm not saying that is the case in this instance, but a little more info would be nice before we start taking it out on every dmv worker.
