Insurance

#1 Unread post by skyward1 »

What type of insurance coverage is recommended and what do people typically get?

I know there is the Collision (my fault) insurance, but what about Comprehensive (for underinsured/uninsured/theft, etc)?

I have a 2002 Suzuki Bandit 600S and it's supposed to be one of the lower insurance rates, but it's looking a lot like my car insurance and I'm unsure what coverage is typical.

Thanks.

if you dont own the bike its going to cost a fortune to cover any bike. if you just want Collision then its cheap. i have the singal limit coverage. instead of breaking your coverage down into like 25/20/50 for damages medical and total, i have 500,000$ to cover the accident and it can be split however needed. it seems like the best way to go for me. and runs 500$ a year on my 03 katana600

I have full coverage on my bike as well which is run around $600 for 02 V-Star 650cc. I bought the cover for 100/200 per accident for bodily injury and $100,000 for properties damaged. I recommend to get a higher coverage if you plan to ride in a group.

I am an old slow guy on an old slow bike.
I have $100 deductible comprehensive and $250 collision.
Progressive chrged me $376.

My boss has State Farm and pays $240 but I don't know what deductibles.

This is one instance where age helps.

I believe it is $100 or $500. I bought with AAA. There is only one thing I cannot add to this policy is medical plan.

Definitely check out State Farm if you haven't already done so. I think
there's almost a consensus that they have some of the lowest rates around.

Full coverage on my Suzuki V-strom 650 at $167, and $208 for full coverage
on my Yamaha FZ1. Of course that's with 1k deductibles. Just doesn't pay to
make small claims these days.

i actually know a farmers agent, and after talking to him i found out that farms sub contracts bike insurance through progressive. and all the quots ive gotten were double the price from farmers. the agent said i should go with progressive. says alot when an insurance agent sends you to another company.

at leasts thats how it is in my area
