Honda Lead100cc

#1 Unread post by leester »

Hi all, i need some advice please. I need to know how far a scooter like the HONDA LEAD 100CC is able to travel in one day (a round trip) . I have had one dealer telling me last week that such a scooter won't even travel 25 miles per day on a regular basis ...is this true? another dealer told me that it could easily manage. What is the truth ? I simply cannot afford to go up to a 125 model.
As a side note ,i have been amazed to find that my local dealers won't even give me one of their cheapest helmets free even tho i am going to buy a new scooter for cash !

Don't know about the Honda, but my daughter has a 125 4 stroke Korean job and has done 300kms in one day so 25 miles should not be a problem. She also had a 50cc 2 stroke job that she rode every day for four years no problem. Like everything else, don't abuse it and give TLC when needed. I would also advise that you learn how to change oil, plugs, petrol and oil filters yourself as this is the bulk of the servicing. I think dealer No1 speaks doo doo.

I dont know what the local market conditions are like where you are but I'd suggest you check out 03/04/05 Used models, see if you can pick up a 125 and still drop the cash on new Lid, Jacket, Gloves.

I'd say anything under 250cc's doing lot's and lot's of mileage is going to require a good maintainence schedule. No more than a couple of hours a week ought to do it.

If you arent interested in maintainence than Dealer no. 1 is being reasonably honest, if you are than a little Bike will serve, and serve, and serve you well :) This time last year I was communting 120miles everyday for work, admittedly on a 125 but you get the idea.

Have you looked into Korean Scooters? Their 125's might be price comparable to the Hondas.

Thanks for all the info and suggestions guys it's a BIG help :D I'm wary of buying second hand cause i seem to be an unlucky bloke ..everything i buy conks out..and i mean everything ! I just wish i could afford a 125cc but there you go,such is life ! I'll be happy with the Honda Lead 100cc .I'm not a speed demon or anything.I intend to learn to maintain the thing so i should be ok. I just want to get around the surrounding towns and maybe into the nearby countryside on Sundays .
Cheers !

A Honda Lead 100 should get you in the 55kpl/115mpg category. It has a 6L/1.6US gal gas tank, so that's 330 kilometers on a tank of gas, or 205 miles. The Lead might give you even better gas mileage depending on your driving style.

Your dealer's feeding you BS.
