Do you Ride the way you Drive?

Im usually more aggressive in my car. In my bike, I give myself a lot of space, I dont "pee" people off and drive slow, but I like to stay aware and chill away from other vehicles if possible.

ZooTech, I can totally relate to you with your slow on-ramp goers. Lots of old people here in Florida, and they hate accelerating...especially on the highway. When I'm in my car, I have actually stopped at the beginning of the onramp when I see a slow "O Ring" old lady in front of me, wait until they get far enough away so I can hit 70, and then proceed to merge. I usually dont do that if someone is behind me... but man, I hate slow drivers.

It is a bit easier on my bike actually, since I drive an automatic car, so it is hard to get it to downshift to accelerate briskly... on my bike, just twist the wrist.

I drive very conservativly in my truck. I am ususally hauling crap or my kids so no reason to go fast. When I want to as my wife says "jackass around" I take the bike. In my opinion if I just wanted to be as safe as possible, all the time, I would just drive the truck.

Bikes have an element of danger, thats why I like them.

I drive fast. And agressivly. I'll fill the mirrors of a slow moving car in the left lane (fast lane) on the highway until he moves over. I really don't like to pass on the inside though, at least that's how i justify filling mirrors. But now and then, a little road sharking is in order. When i ride i'm a lot safer, specially one false move and i'm in the trees/off an embankment/in the water/landing on sharp or jagged rocks/etc. But when it comes to the road, the best defense is a good offense. Hmmm, i should become highway patrol

. Drive fast AND carry a gun. Legally. Of course i wouldn't give out tickets to my 2 wheeled friends. Maybe pull one over and do the written warning thing though.

I ride my scoot far more agressively than I drive my car . Besides it is really hard to split lanes and dance on the white line in a Camaro........

I tend to drive very defensively and usually hang about 5 over the limit. On-Ramps are a full throttle affair unless I have a slow moving car in front. Helps having a car that will run hard from 40 all the way up to 80 in 3rd gear (modded VW bug), then catch 4th for a nice cruising speed.

Also tend to road shark a bit in the city. Im used to not being seen by other drivers (its a curse that afflicts most old VW owners) so I make it a habit to quickly get out of the way of cell phone weilding wackos, at least my cage is small and nimble in traffic and has more than enough power to keep up with 80 mph traffic.

as for riding, not sure on that one yet, haven't been out on the street on 2 wheels

I live in a city of a few million, so my day to day driving and riding is in thick traffic (Im guessing most of you are in the same situation).

I drive a lot more sedatley than I ride, I dont see the point in racing around in the car as you cant get anywhere fast in heavy city traffic.

Riding however, you can really get through heavey traffic by being a bit aggressive, in a way i feel safer on the bike than i do driving the car.

Yep. Balls to the wall 24/7, 2 wheels or 4 or 10, I hate a vehicle in front of me. Or beside me. Or too close behind me. Or on the same road as me.

No. It's kinda tough to cut through wall-to-wall traffic in a cage...

depends on my mood but I can be extremly agressive in my car. I love bossing big, lane wandering, turn signalless Hummers around with my little sports car. FI yesterday I blew past a woman in a suburban doing her makup with her right signal on driving straight down the center of the line, I pushed her back into her lane, but looking back a couple second later she's back on the centerline sitting at a green light.

I've always considered other motorists unpredictable destructive obsticles to be gotten around and away from as fast as possible (although if I'm out in an open space I'll often drop back to their speed as to not catch the next pack) I usually wont spend much time surrounded by other cars unless it's absolutely unavoidable. It often freaks me out driving with most of my friends because they'll just hang with the pack.

anyway, my car's built for speed so I drive fast and use that to avoid others. Unfortunately my bike's still slow so I just have to be really defensive and conservative. I'm sure if I had a fast bike I'd be a menace to man and nature... can't wait

I drive & ride much the same, however, I am more causous on the bike. I try to give the cage time to see me when over taking them. My trucks are old, but in good shape 74 & 60 chevy, but no speed demons. I have gotten to where it don't matter how long it takes me to get there as long as I get there. From time to time I do run up over the limit, but only for enjoyement. Ride safely.
