Buell Blast or Suzuki Vx800 for beginner?

Is the vx good for sport riding? I know I am just learning but the bike I purchase will probably be my only bike for a few years or so so I want to make sure Im getting what I want. They had a 1996 Suzuki Rf900 in the cycle trader but the only reason I mention that is because its selling for $1,250. Is this too big of a bike for a beginning rider? I am still stuck on the vx right now but trying ot make sure it will satisfy me for a few years.

the RF900 has something like 140hp. was suzukis top sport tourer before the busa came out.

most definately NOT a beginner bike.

I would go for the VX. If you dont mind the possibility of having to put some work into it.

now sure how well it would work for sport riding.

If you want a similar bike that is more than capable of sport riding go for the SV650.

I dunno what exactly you mean by "Sport Riding" but ...

Most riders (Especially new riders) can't max out the cornering abilities of a cruiser. I think a VX will be able to treat you well for a few years. You can always get new shocks and fork springs to chenge some of the suspension characteristics.

I would suggest a Blast no earlier than 2002.
And $3,000 for a 2001 is outrageous.

3k for any used blast is probably outragous. the bike is only 4500 new, your depreciation hit will drop it to 3k as soon as it leaves the showroom.

Buells dont have the same investment value as an HD. In this neck of the woods ANY harley will sell for more used than brand new. My wifes cousin bought an '03 Road King 100th anniversary that had been dropped for $3000 more than the MSRP on a brand new '06 road king.

Is the vx800 similar to the new M50? I think that the M50 is a 805cc.
