Most filters tell how much more to turn them after the gasket has touched the mating surface at the engine. You may be able to get away with not using a torque wrench for a little while, but it will catch up with you. Most bike oil pans are aluminum and repeated over torquing of the plug will pull the drain threads out from the hole. It is repairable, but is is cheaper to get a torque wrench and learn to use it. AND USE IT.
