Storm? Run Away!!

#1 Unread post by CentralOzzy »

Did a tour the other day & had to outrun a storm front! Got up to 180KPH with the client on the back of the 1550 Road King, what a rush!
See Radar Image, Alice Springs is in the middle!

The Storm produced days of much needed rain here in Central Oz, it even made the usually dry river run for a few days!

Being chased by storms can be fun, sometimes NOT if it catches you & pours rain on you, especially if you have no rain gear!

Have you ever outrun a storm?

Haha, I'm the opposite. I chase the storms. I love to do it on the bike. Gotta have the right gear for it though. Here was a nice one I chased in South Dakota, a few miles from the badlands. Sorry they're a bit blurry, camera broke during the trip. Storm on one side, sunset on the other.

Here's the sunset from the other side of the bike at the same spot.

That Sucks!

I imagine that over the years, motorcyclists become very skillfull at reading the weather & learn to ride around it....eh.

I've missed many a cloud burst that way

Outrun a stormcloud in the UK and you just run into the back of the one in front. No point.

Over here, motorcyclists become very skillful at putting up with the weather and learn to talk around it.

I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

The weather channel is one of the best things to come along in awhile. I used it to outrun a number of storm fronts on my trip to niagara falls. I plan on outwitting a few of them starting at 9am tomorrow. If I fail it will still be a good test for my new rain gear!
