yet another newbie with a question

#1 Unread post by Qbushido »

Before I even ask, thank you for taking the time to answer this (if you do)

I'm 6'3 and about 260 lbs, what size motorcycle do you feel would be the best fit for me? I'm much more geared to a sport bike rather then anything else initially and wouldnt be looking to buy a brand new bike just yet.

There are plenty of late 80's, early 90's UJM's with tall seat heights that should fit your frame well. Once you're proficient, I think a V-Strom 1000 might fit the bill. At 5'10", I cannot completely flat-foot one so it should be right up your alley.

Kawasaki Ninja 500, and Suzuki GS500 are both good choices and sell for a resonable sum used. And are available new as well. They may look a little small but you should still fit on em. There is a guy on here who rides a GS500 and is 6'5"

The Suzuki SV650 is also another possibility though is considered gray area for a beginner bike. If you are of the more responsible and mature sort this should be just fine for you.

Do take the time to read the stickies, they contain lots of great info.

Zoos suggestion of an 80's vinatage UJM would also work well. UJMs tend to fit tall riders well, as well as shorter riders. Most UJMs have pretty user friendly powerbands too, not the hair trigger powerbands of a modern sportbike.

Ask Zoo about the Nighthawk 700SC, he used to ride one.
