Dress in black sneak out at night and...

#1 Unread post by peterman »

dump some old gas down a gutter.

I have about a half to a gallon of gas that has a lot of rust in it. I drained it from the tank and don't know what to do with it.

Any ideas?

I need the gas can so I can get some gas in my tank.

I would filter it out and throw it in my cage with a lot of fresh gas. No sense wasting it.

Take it to a place that recycles oil. A lot of places also have programs for disposing of household hazardous waste - you could call your local garbage company and they'd know. I hate to be a hippy, but gas dumped just anywhere ends up in the local river or lake and fish hate gas.

good idea thanks! I was thinking lawn mower but I only have a reel mower. I also thought about using it to burn the moss off the back patio (concrete slab) but the neighbors would raise and eyebrow. But I'll throw it in the car.

To clear up any misunderstandings, I mean put it in your car's gas tank, don't just throw it in the vehicle.

Pour it into a shallow pan or bowl and it will just evaporate. When it has dried up just throw the rusty remains in the bin.

Half a gallon of rusty gas running around your car's engine??? Hope you really like riding that bike of yours, cuz your cage is doomed.

BTW, I am paying ~$2.35/gallon for mid-grade at Shell, Sunoco, Marathon, and Kroger. Wal-Mart has 87-octane for $1.99 with a swipe of the Wal-Mart card.

damn I wish I was where you are right now, we are still at over 2.50 for swill grade.

I would sit it out in a bowl and burn it (might as well have some fun with it)
