Royal Enfield?

#1 Unread post by jayhawk »

Anybody have one of these? I know they're old technology, not fast, etc but I saw one at a local bike/scooter shop and it really looks neat. I like vintage stuff (have a '60 triumph TR3 and a '62 VW convert) and wondered what they're like to ride. I'm not looking for a fast bike, just something to play with as an alternative to my Suzuki.

A friend had one while I was still in school.

It was his first bike and was pretty forgiving, had less niggles than many other newer designs had. Jon said that its because the design had 50 yes of testing behind it in India.

It also has that cool as procreate thing, all you need is a Patrol styled jacket to do the whole James Dean thing. All you need is the jacket: http://www.eagleleather.com/catalog_i31 ... atId=21932

This is my favorite Enfield in the range, given the money I'd love it, pure performance and everything: http://www.oxfordshireroyalenfield.co.uk/500T.php

They'd be a great little around-town bike. I love the retro styling.

A friend of my sisters has one and I've riden it a few times (04 bullet). Not a bad bike. I considered getting one before i bought the rebel. If your into the vintage look and feel you'll like it, but it starts to vibrate pretty good above 60mph. It gets great gas mileage. Just be aware it's not fast or powerful by any stretch of the imagination. The rebel will out perform it in everything. But for just cruising at 55mph or less you'll probably have a blast.

I just read a great review in our countries top bike mag, and they gave it a +++++ rating, if your into retro like I am (im a hotrodder in my other passion) and ya believe on some levels that look/style is more important than speed, the enfield is the bike for you !!!!!

I sat on one at the Motorcycle Expo which show cases 2005-2006 bikes held here a few months ago, and I looked pretty fookin cool I must say, I wanted one  their cheap too

Ural also makes a very old looking bike that is made the same as it has been for ages. The side car edition includes a reverse gear. I'm guessing the Indian (country not company) made bike is better than the central europe produced bike. I just love all those odd ball shaped letters.

This doesn't look that old. Funny, but not old.
