Frustrating and sad news story!

We have a huge illegal immigrant population here. They drive with stolen plates, no license, no insurance and a study was released just recently that they caused our accident and drunk driving rates to jump 72% in 5 years. Of course the people who released the study were immedeiately branded racists and cast to the dogs, but the fact is that most of them never drove a car until they got here.

I have nothing against legals, but if your illegal and your caught you need to be deported.

All I want is some consistency. When the rich dude needs a house and he wants to save some money on drywall, he calls a mexican and pays a low wage and no tax (note - he used to call an irishman for this). Nobody much cares. When Tyson chicken needs 100,000 chickens plucked, call the mexicans. Nobody cares. When walmart needs to build a new warehouse they line up the mexican labor. Nobody cares (well, old 'buy american' Sam Walton would have, but his heirs are just cashing checks and don't much care what Sam would have thought.). Mexicans now are doing the jobs that the irish and the chinese and the poles and the italians used to do. But nobody remembers that. I don't really care that much about the immigration policy I just think it ought to be enforced fairly. You can't just pick and choose when to enforce it. Half the people on the hill voting for it have an illegal nanny, an illegal maid and an illegal gardener. And the companies they own stock in, like wal mart and tyson chicken have been busted mutiple times for systematically using illegal labor. FEMA just got busted using illegal labor. So, if the rich folks and big business are enjoying the cheap labor, do you really think the law is ever going to be enforced fairly? Hell no. Everyone is down on the illegal immigrants until they need some dirty work done... then it's down to second avenue to pick up a couple of illegals. The government doesn't want them gone either. They are an important part of the labor force but you'll never get a govt. official to admit it out loud. If they really wanted them gone they could get half in 30 days or they'd just put up a damn fence. People wouldn't be so keen to come up if they thought they could never get back down again. But it ain't ever gonna happen because the people making the decisions benefit the most from the cheap labor.

absolutely.the laws are already on the books.but as we all know the laws have 2 interpretations.the one for the big business.and the one for the citizen.the government is so full of greed and corruption that it matters not one bit about anything but money and who will get the most of it.

If my construction company gets nailed hiring an illegal, they'll fine me back to the stone age and put me under the jail. So.... whatever happened to the multiple cabinet nominees that were found with tax-free illegal employees? As I remember, those were just unintended 'accidents'.

We have the same situation here and the racist thing crops up every time even if they are the same colour but come from different tribes. We have a lot of Illegals coming from north of us and they bring their own brands of lawlessness with them. The Nigerians have huge drug cartels in South Africa.

While businesses may benefit from the cheap labor, illegal immigrants are costing the US 74 billion (or maybe it was 54B) a year in free emergency room care, schooling of kids, welfare, etc. Guess who ultimately pays for all of that? Cost for a six layer fence system complete with motion detectors across the entire southern border is 7-8 billion. Sounds like a good return on investment. Build the fence then evict the illegals that are caught. However, they can come back in legally later if its to the advantage of the US.

All the jobs going to illegals can go to legals if we just enforce existing immigration policies. This is the first year that illegal immigration has exceeded legal immigration. Why should Hispanic illegals be allowed to stay in this country but not Asian illegals (or those from other countries). Truth is, none should be allowed.

Back on topic though, my wife was hit by an illegal, and yes, there is nothing much you can do to recover costs. Luckily, we had insurance and only lost on the deductible.
