Congrats on the new bike. The CX500 is a good choice. It sounds like it's in excellent running condition. Pretty rare for a used bike of that era. I'd say you struck gold.

I don't envy you right now, but I will in about 7 months. I love riding the backroads in western WY, MT and ID. Some of the best motorcyle roads around. The downside for me is I have to ride 1000 miles to get there

Watch those new tires, particularly on wet pavement. It usually takes about 100 miles of riding to get rid of the slippery coating on a new set of tires. Don't know if yours are past that point, but I'd keep the lean angles to a minimum until I was sure.

Now I just need to remove the ugly "O Ring" vetter fairing that is on it. Though I need to scrounge up a stock headlight assembly to put back on it.

Sincerely hope that bike makes you feel as good as I do when I ride, sounds like you got a goodie, keep the shiny side up and let us know when you get it on the road.
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R
