So I know that 500cc is a good starter bike in sportsbikes but what about on a cruiser? Would a 600cc be good for a cruiser? You do have a heavier machine to push after all. Would a 600cc cruiser be about the equivalent of a 500cc sportsbike?
Also if you had a older cruiser (say a '80 750cc) would that be weaker by today's standards? Or is a 750 back then on the same level as a 750 now?

Yes, and yes, the answer to all your questiosn is also posted above... in the starter sections.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
