"fudge" him. that's the mentality that gets people hurt. that's like slashing the tires of a handicap parked car because they get to park closer than you to the door. "fudge" him, "fudge" ignorant people on the road, "fudge" everyone.

Hey thats a good idea. But I usually park closer than the handicap spots on my bike. Thats way to far to walk.

listen

cagers----DONT OPEN YOUR DOORS TO SMACK RIDERS!

riders---no splitting lanes at ridiculous speeds.

peace?

by the way when im driving my car and i see a bike coming up in the middle i give him room to pass with plenty of room.
im sure everyone who drives and rides shows that courtesy.

And one more thing to those DJ's
If youre so pissed bout waiting in traffic then its time to pick up a bike
Its fun-saves gas-easy parking-and chicks dig it alot more than my neon.

Well, this is the reply that Woody, the 105.3 DJ, posted on the BARF website:
Woody wrote: OK, finally this is working. I've been trying to log in all day with no luck.....which is why I sent my last post to Dennis (Budman) in the first place.

Not sure when and where I'll be taking the safety course yet....but when I do, you'll know.

I know there are some people here who will never forgive me no matter what I say or do at this point......but what can you do.

For the record.....at this point I've only made ONE really bad comment during all this......which is the initial one on the 12th....as bad as it was, no denial. SINCE then, realizing how stupid that was (I'm not beyond making mistakes obviously) I've given considerable airtime to clarifying that road rage in any form is wrong and that screwing with bikers on the roads is bullshit.

I would hope that if someone is shallow enough to blindly listen to some morning radio DJ making dumb comments for guidance, that the repeated retractions and clarifications would repeal their thought process.......what little there is to begin with.

Like I said, I'm more than happy to continue to help you in your mission to raise awareness of "moto" related issues (ie: lane splitting), and the reasons to appreciate the benefits of bikes on the roads means to us "cagers."

To the people who are still full of "pee" and venom, unwilling to even let me make good on my promises.......I hope you never make a mistake in your life, because when you do, and you honestly in your heart of hearts regret it, you'll hope that people can find it in them to give you another chance.

Yes, I'm new to California....but so are lots of other people here in the Bay Area. This is a transient city.....many outsiders moving in who aren't aware on the ins and outs of the community and its local laws. I can help you. Live 105 can help you. Honestly, the people at Live 105 are good people, unlike most in this business. They do lots to help the community and give back. They've been serving the Bay Area for MANY MANY years.......don't let one comment, as bad as it was, by one DJ (Me) ruin the good. Let me worry about making this good. Live 105 will support me in whatever it is I want to do.....they're just like that. Not much at this station comes from the top.....one of the reasons I decided to come work here.

So you can see what I mean here. The past is the past, and all I can do is worry about the future. By the way.....I didn't appreciate the one poster who said that I was calling for people to open doors on bikers, take a picture of the carnage, and then send it in for a prize? Holy hell? Who's got a bigger problem, me? or you for even blowing that up like that? What's the matter, the statement as is (joking or not) wasn't extreme enough for you? If that's the case I'm surprised you didn't try to lump kids in there somewhere........my god!

OK......I've been typing for a while. If anyone has any other questions, or suggestions (other than you're an "O Ring" Woody, go "fudge" yourself) you can email me at WTRLive105@aol.com

To the people here who are giving me another shot......I appreciate it. I'll follow through on my word.

To the others.......don't know what else to say.

OH.....and sorry for the form letter....I couldn't figure out how to post on here, and the emails were coming in like mad. I wanted to get back to everyone and figured SOME type of response was better than hearing NOTHING back at all.

........now I'm out....

Take care!

Woody

This is my response to him:

Woody,

I was one of those motorcyclists calling for you and your cohorts to be hung in the town square at high noon for your comments about lane-splitters.

I think joking and playing around is fine. Be rude. Be crass. Be insulting. I don't care. Mocking a crash-victim would be tasteless, but not irresponsible. You crossed the line by ENCOURAGING motorists to injure motorcyclists. Crossing that line is what made your comments totally unacceptable.

After reading your apology on the www.bayarearidersforum.com website, I forgive you for your asinine remarks and accept your efforts to apologize and make amends. I commend you for being man enough to admit that you did something stupid. If you can be man enough to apologize, I can be man enough to forgive. Having integrity doesn't mean that you never screw up; It means that you own up to it when you make a mistake.

You said: "To the people here who are giving me another shot......I appreciate it. I'll follow through on my word."

Okay. I'll hold you to that. These days, few people place any value on things like "honor" or "promises" or "keeping one's word." I do. So, I hope you honestly have the character to keep yours. You don't need to become a hardcore motorcyclist. But take the MSF course like you said you would. See what it's like to ride a motorcycle. And continue to promote positive things about bikers. (Like pointing out that we are one-less-car causing traffic to get jammed in the first place!)

One of my favorite sayings has always been:
"There is no curse that can't become a blessing. And no blessing that can't become a curse."

Here's hoping your brief mistake will actually turn into something with positive, long-term benefits. Best wishes, Woody.

And watch your fukcing mouth next time. (smirk)

Respectfully,
Eric Muss-Barnes

So that's all fine but did he make an "on the air, live" apology like he made an "on the air, live" screw-up?

It's like when I had a boss chew me out in front of the whole shop for something I had nothing to do with. Later in the day he caught me aside and told me he learned the "whole story" and that he had jumped the gun by chewing me out and that he was sorry. I told him ok how about apologizing to me in front of the whole shop since he saw fit to chew me out in front of the whole shop. He of course just looked at me like I was an idiot and walked off. (which is what I expected)

Yes. He did both. On the air and online.

I just found this site, so please dont take this wrong, I was calling, emailing, and I even told the owner of a yamaha shop that advertises there, yank the mf, His apologyies were halfhearted at best, the station manager loved the publicity, and the yamaha shop lost the sale of an R! that I would happily have traveled the hundred miles to buy, He's still there and the dealer got his shops name all over every channel in the bay area by giving woody a bike to ride and paying for the msf course, fuggit, I think I'm gonna take my wife to St Thomas instead.......................

Offtopic?
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
