Must have been new bike fever...

#1 Unread post by High_Side »

Must have been new bike fever...'cause today at the bike shop even the WeeStrom 650 was looking really good. Delusional. I've gotta be. I need this type of bike in the garage for the distance runs. All day comfort and over 370km / tank......but looking good? I'd better check the meds! $8000 (Canadian) brand new with a 3 year warrantee. I've gotta stay away from the bike shops!

Nope, not quite but close! (the pic is just one I found on the net and I didn't mean for anyone to think that I had bought it yet) It seems like such a good deal that it will be hard to refuse. I'm just ironing out a job situation in the next two weeks and this will have a strong bearing on whether I buy it or not. I'm also hunting down info on the net about this model like a mad-man.

Well, if it helps any, I know a couple of guys who have the V-Strom and the Wee-Strom (a nickname for the 650 version) and they are all quite happy with their bikes. Only complaints have been about tall seat height (which is unavoidable on a dual-purpose mount) and limited aftermarket accessories, although that one seems to be changing for the better lately.

Thanks Mike. I'm pretty sure I know who the one guy is you are referring to from that "other" site we both frequent. I've even seen his posts on a V-Strom forum.
One other thing that I am looking at is the possibility of finding one of these or importing one:

This will likely prove to be a challenge, but there is one running around town at the moment so who knows????

Luckily, I'm too short to be tempted by a V-Strom. I sat on the 650 at IMS and even THAT one left me on my tip-toes.

They are awesome bikes, but too high for me.
