Motorcycles vs. Pollution
Following issues with traffic laws in Paris, Motorcycle riders groups demonstrate that motorcycles should be supported as they do produce less pollution than cars.

Ahh but while you're out on the motorcycle casually doing that 250 miles, you're not in the gas guzzling, high emission, evil car running errands.Scott58 wrote:Just don't tell them that I'll jump on a motorcycle and go 250 miles just for the pleasure of it. Can't remember te last time I did that in a car.
It'd be interesting to see how much a motorcycle kicks out over 250 miles compared to a short trip around town mileage wise but has you sitting endlessly at all the traffic lights.

I'm not so sure I agree with the premise for the article. While bikes do burn less fuel, most of them lack the emission control devices that enable cages to burn cleaner. In general, a cage equipped with catalytic converters and computeri controlled ignition and fuel delivery, will emit much lower amounts of CO and hydrocarbons. Bikes with carbs and simple electronic ignition systems are a generation behind in this respect.
Here in Phoenix, I have run the bike and the cage through emission testing every year. The cage always comes out cleaner.
