First bike you've ever owned

#1 Unread post by -Holiday »

This has probably been done before, but post up what your first bike was, and post a pic. if you dont have a pic, just google one of the same model.

My turn:

79 Honda cx500 custom. Here's a pic. Just add lots of rust and a big dent in the tank and it would be exactly like mine was.

i bought it for 400 bucks while in college in the mid 90's, then sold it a year later after riding the hell out of it, for 400 bucks. not a bad deal.

so post up what you guys purchased as your first bike. Be sure to add pics!

Honda XR200R, it's a 1999. Currently my only bike. I also left it at my mom's when i moved out so i don't have it to ride right now, which sucks. There've been a few nice days.

84 Ninja 900. (the bike Tom Cruise had it Top Gun I think) I still have it but it looks nothing like this picture any more. It is covered with dust because it has been in my shop for years without running. Looking at this picture reminds me what it could look like if I got off my "O Ring" and worked on it. Maybe I will start wrenching on it this weekend.

While searching the web for a pic I found several sites for parts. The cost of new upper and lowers is what has kept me from starting this project.

I would love to get a 200R like GeoffXR200R's. That would be a great second bike, or maybe a third

2002 EX500. I love this bike so much. Lucky for me you cant see the other side with that has the dent in the tank and some scratches and such. 73k miles and still runs great. Cant think of any other bike i would have rather started on.

My first bike was a 1986 Honda 250 Rebel. I ran the "poo poo" out of that little bike. It kept going long enough for me to get my Ninja.
I believe in technology. I believe in DOHC, multi-valve cylinder heads, liquid-cooling, astronomical RPM, more than five gears, light weight, chain drive, and all at a reasonable price.

I believe in sportbikes.

Now that is a nice looking ride.

Personally I started out on a 2004 Suzuki Savage (rebadged as the C40 curently). It was a great little bike to learn on, forgiving and well balanced. But when I sat on my current ride at the bike show I knew I wouldn't own it for much longer.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
