bike too small? (not engine, actual bike)

so this is the bike I have found for my first bike. Suzi savage 650. $1999.99 and clear title with 2200miles on it and its an '02. the tank and fender are dented but I doubt that matters too much. I am a little concerned with fit though, it felt fine but people around me say its tiny. now I dont care if its just a small bike that fits, whatever, but if its too small y'know... also can you get a flat seat so I can schooch back a little bit?

is it really that much too small? remember this is a first bike. I put a deposit on it but can get that back if I need to. plus that jacket is a little large, Im not ALL there. I am 6-2 and 225lbs so its harder to call me small, but do you think the bike handling or anything will care too much?

If you are comfortable, then go for it. It did not look like you were folded in two to fit it.

well thats what I was thinking, plus a different set of bars would pull me forward a bit more, the newer bikes have straight bars and feel a little better. anyone know how much or where I can get bars?

Check out the aftermarket sites like cruisercustomizing.com there's tons of them out there. Also, check out what the manufacturer offers for that bike.

If you like it and are comfy on it, get it. But of course, keep in mind how long you plan to ride this thing for. If this was a starter bike that I thought I was only going to keep for a couple of years, I might go bigger considering the money you're laying down. But if it's a long term thing and you're going to be comfortable and happy with that bike for the long term, then go for it.

Either way, enjoy the ride.

I am confused by this, you are saying if I am going to keep it longer then to buy a smaller bike, but if its going to be short term buy bigger? none of the dealerships around have anything else even near this price. and I want to go through one for my first bike at least, dont want any suprises with the bike so I like it tuned up and checked over first.

Sit on it. Sit on it for an hour, 10 minutes, 1/2 an hour. Note where your knees and elbows line up. Does it bother you with them where you are? Does it hurt to sit on the bike? If you answered no to both questions then I'd say go for it.

I know for a fact the LS650 can pull your weigh at highway speed, though it takes longer to get there then with a bigger bike it's still faster then most cars. The engine sounds a little funny when you're first starting out, but you won't notice.

As far as a starter bike, Canucker...............
It was a great bike for the 6 months and 4000km I put on it. Taught me a lot, and was very easy to resell when I was ready to move up to something bigger. In fact, I bought it new for $5000 Canadian, rode it for the whole season (4000km) and then resold it next summer for $4200 with some paint scraped off the tank, and chrome off the muffler from an accident I had. $2000 for an '02 sounds like a really good deal compared to that.

A starter bike is meant to be exactly that, a starter, something that is easy to handle for the first season or two, that will not harshly punish a minor mistake. I think this is a great bike for that, if you're comfortable on it.

Oh, and ignore Zootech, he's a product of the American dream of bigger is better, it's not his fault.

my second bike will be quite a bit bigger, most likely at least a liter bigger with another cylindar V'd up to it. but for now I think this will do. and for you daily commute of about 10-15 miles of backroads its perfect.
now to get the jacket and helmet and pants and boots and gloves. jacket shall be blue, joe rocket Rasp, pants grey black, helmet blue and black, oh, and the bike will be painted mostly blue before long, I gotta fix the tank anyways or at least paint it up so it doesnt rust where the dent it. and I like blue.
