Ya know - I do have a friend who works with leather - he doesn't make chaps, but I'll see what he says.

leather is cheap here, we get chaps for around 600 rand, around 100 dollars.
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

I also get a not really custom made but custom fit size for me. I don't wear chap all the time but only in winter or cold night. I don't see any protection that chap will provide but at least better than plain pair of jeans. The main reason I got chap is to be able to ride in cold weather more comfortable and espically in rain.

This may help. I went and looked up my records, seemed 08/1999 I bought a replacment set of chaps from this fellow for $155.00. My first set of chaps and jacket were stolen in Miami. That set cost $73.00 in 1980. What you're looking for is the stovepipe or shotgun style chaps. They have fully enclosed legs without the bat wing styling of the rodeo guys. This last set is Elk hide with a full leg zipper as Wizzard mentioned. They are a natural dark brown color. I do like'em, they feel better than my Stich-suite.

PM me and I'll sent you the contact info unless it's okay to open post it?

I hope you're wiping really well after you go to the washroom, otherwise your seat is going to STINK!!!
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I would rather have a peg go through my leg than be caught in chaps, hahaha...

I like chaps, in fact, half the fun of riding is getting to wear all that leather
