The main reason I asked was because I just had a fear that if I were to ride, being a newbie, I might drop/or be close to dropping the bike, and if i were to try to stabilize it with my left leg, that my knee wouldn't be able support the weight of the bike and cause myself greater injury. Does anyone know if this might be an unfounded fear?
Everyone drops their bike eventually. The lucky ones just don't drop it very hard or very often.

When it starts to go over, just let it go. Don't try to stop it and hurt yourself. Chances are, by the time you DO drop it, hopefully you'll be 100% healed anyway.
