Hi,
I am thinking about buying one of Kawasaki EX500, Suzuki GS500F or SV650 and will be selling it one year later, and as you can imagine do not want to loose too much money there;)
Can you please give insight as to how these bikes compare in terms of resale value?
Thanks...

Depends what they cost when you buy them and what you end up doing to them at the end of it. If you look carefully you can buy a used one, ride it for a season and probably sell it for more then you paid.
If you buy a new one expect to lose at least a grand off the top.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I was trying to get an idea about how do these compare (in terms of resale value and ease of selling). Of course, it all depends, but I was trying to learn how on average the resale value is.
But, let me rephrase my question:
For cars, Honda Civic is pretty much as liquid as money is:) It is probably much more easier to sell it compared to say a Nissan Altima, and you will definitely loose less money than any other car.
So, given these 3 bikes, can you make such a comparison? Or, are they all pretty much the same in terms of resale value and ease of selling?
Thanks...

I know that ninja's around here tend to sell within a week or less of being listed. I never really watched the GS's

All those bikes are high demand for newbies. You can count on losing SOME money if you buy new, but you could just as easily write that off as 'cost of learning.'
Buying used can pretty well guarantee not losing any money, but they're harder to find used.

From what I saw when I was looking for a bike, is that the Ninjas sell extremely fast, the GS will sell, but not as fast, and the SVs will sell eventually if they're priced low.

what camthepyro said. Check craigslist or cycletrader. Ninja 500 is practically impossible to find used. GS500 appears for a while and it's gone. sv650 stays on the market a bit longer. That's how I ended up buying it. But I was really tring to get the other two.
On the other hand, the market is flooded with used gixxers, R6, and zx-6r's.
