calories burnt riding motorcycles

#1 Unread post by mikepel »

For nothing better than to have an excuse to ride all that I desire, does any one know how many calories it takes to ride a motorcycle for an hour? That would be on the aggressive side . I can't just put put along.

i cant imagine its that much at all. your not making any big movements or using any great deal of strength at any point. unless you get off at a stop light and sprint over to press the button making the light change...

Some of the rides we do around here could possibly burn some calories, expecially in the summer when it's humid, about 98 degrees and we're all dressed in leather armor. Any speed under about 40 and the sweat starts pouring on heavy.

youll deff loose some water weight but i didnt think sweating actually burned calories? sweating is a good sign your burning calories, unless its just caused because of heat i thought....

otherwise ill be burning alot of calories when its 120 degrees out here soon.

I guess you're right, my initial thought about the burning of the calories was during spirited rides while sliding off the seat to the right, then off the seat to the left on twisty roads. (of course the said twisty roads would only be located on a closed course and or all speed limits are obeyed)

I'm pretty sure you burn some calories. I think it depends on your style of riding. I think somone should post this question on a Weight Watcher board. I bet they might actually have the answer.

If you want a great workout, take up dirtbikes. Motocross is susposedly the second most physically demanding sport there is....... next to..... coff... soccer.....

Soon as I turned 25 or so, I get stiff and sore the day after a good ride the same way I got stiff and sore from football in highschool. You work every muscle you got, wheather you know about them or not, you soon will. If it hurts, it must be good for you, right?

Streetbikes won't burn too many calories for you, even spirited riding. The safety margin you have to leave yourself takes most of the real work out of it. Ride one hard on a track though......
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

I get all the exercise I need doing everything the hard way, jumping to conclusions, and running from responsibility. :)
