Moved off the farm, sold the farm and not I am considering getting a little Mig for my little garage. So, no I can't help you at the moment. Sorry buddy...

You're toying with my emotions here buddy...

You cannot imagine the number of logistics and aftermarket parts problems this would solve for me if I managed to pull it off. Maybe next down season, I'll be taking a mechanics course, so maybe I'll be able to do some of this stuff in my free time while I'm there.

I'm taking a welding class. One of the first things the teach said was "After a few classes when you start to get the hang of it, feel free to bring in your projects and weld what you want". So, if you want to ship me your bike, i'd gladly do the work

It just... might have a few hundred miles more than you had on it at the start.

Interesting idea, however I've already done more then a little welding myself (two years worth of highschool courses) I'm trained to use oxyacetalyne, mig and arc welders, though I hate arc welding. All that I need is a welder... and an idea of what sort of changes I'd need to make to the frame.

Even worse there's a CBR600RR tail piece being sold about 3 hours NW of me for about $60... GRRRRRRRRR, I wonder if it'd be worthwhile buying it, or if I should wait until I'm sure I can actually use it.

ARGH, I hate you High_Side!!! Look at what you've reduced me too, this wasn't even on my radar until you showed that damn pic.

Chill Dude.

I can weld steel, and can access a welder easy enough, but if you build that subframe out of steel, I'll kick your azz so hard you'll have to open your fly to eat......

All that's needed is to cut and fit the subframe (probably easiest to start with a CBR unit) to your frame mounts, then have it welded by a local shop. Won't cost much for that. How different the mounts on your 599 are compared to the stock locations on a CBR will determine how much modding is necessary to the subframe and possibly the tail piece its self.

This is going to sound stupid, but you're going to kick my "O Ring" because using steel would add a whole bunch of weight to the back end right?

One of these days I'll pull the "O Ring" end of my bike apart and see what I have to work with.

I'm really excited about this.

Okay, so I found This fender

I haven't bid on it, it's about 3 hours from where I live, so I asked if it's availiable for pick up. And we'll see from there.

And I'm going to start looking around for subframes from the same model CBR 04/05. There ought to be at least one wrecked near me. LoL.

after that I'll need to pick up seats, but those are all over e-bay, which means I can potentially get a couple to experiment with.

This is exciting, and really scary.

What it comes down to, I think:

1) remove all the old stuff
2) cut off the old subframe
3) attempt to attach the CBR subframe
4) check the mount points, and destroy my sidepanels to make sure both can mount
5) Mod a seat to fit around my gas tank
6) rig up a hanger for my exhaust or mod the cbr tail to fit around the current one
7) hope my exhaust doesn't melt my new rear end

Buy BuzZz lots of beer, or give him money to buy.... other stuff!

If you're going for a CBR "O Ring" end, think you could fit an undertail exhaust on it some how? The mid-pipe won't likely fit, but pipes can be bent and welded.

Actually, I'd be willing to pay a substantial amount of money to have someone either fit, or help me fit a Buell exhaust. It'd require a special link between the box itself and my 4 downpipes, but I'm sure it could be done.
