Rider training in Red Deer

Anyone know which is the best course in Red Deer to take for a beginner?

I don't know about Red Deer, but NAIT in Edmonton offers a 2 day training course for motorcycles. It cost me $400 and it ended up being 4 instructor's to 20 students. Lots of hands on stuff, with instructors watching everything you do.

They teach you from square one, just getting on the bike. And by the end of the second day you are doing emergency stops and swerves, upshifting and downshifting in corners, figure eights, and weaves. If you have your class 5, you can have your class 6 the day after you're done training. Just need to go write the written part. They have DMV people come in to test you.

I heartily recomend it. One of our instructors was an ex-kawasaki racer, and a second still raced for them.

Good question though. My wife will probably be taking the same kind of training there this summer.

There are two courses in Red Deer that I know of:

Alberta Motor Association

Alberta Rider Training

Information on the first can be had from the AMA office (you do not need to be a member to take their course), and Precision Cycle Works on Taylor drive has info on the second. I'd give you their number, but I gave the business card that I had to my gf.

thanks. I've taken her for a few rides on my KLR, but she's looking at getting a bike of her own next spring. She wanted me to teach her how to ride, but I suggested that she take the training course instead.
